Start of construction for Finkenborner Weg: delay by a week!
The renovation of Finkenborner Weg in Hameln is still a long time coming. The start of construction, originally planned for Monday, June 16th, has been delayed by a week and is now scheduled to begin on June 23rd. This information was communicated by city spokeswoman Wiebke Kanz and is due to delays in other construction projects. The renovation itself is expected to be completed within just two to three weeks, which will hopefully soon provide residents and road users with a better road.
Preparatory work will begin in the first week after construction begins, and asphalting is scheduled for two weeks later. The renovation area extends from Finkenborner Weg on Kuhwiese to the Finkenborn Inn. Many potholes on the road have already resulted in 20 km/h speed limits in most parts. In addition, the cost calculation has proven to be complex, as the original estimates of over one million euros were narrowed down to 600,000 euros. Only 285,000 euros will be used to renovate the problematic sections of the route, while 315,000 euros remain as scope for further measures.
Problems and solutions
There is currently still uncertainty about the final calculation, as the city is waiting for an offer from a construction company that should keep the total costs within 600,000 euros. During the construction period, Finkenborner Weg will be completely closed; access will be possible via Riepenstrasse and Wiengrundstrasse. These measures are in the interest of road safety and are intended to improve the quality of life in the area.
This renovation is part of a larger context in which mobility in cities and communities plays a crucial role. As the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport emphasizes, the mobility transition is not only a challenge for individual projects, but also requires a rethink in how we deal with traffic. The goal is to develop new concepts and means of transport that are sustainable and not based on sacrifice. Cities like Hameln are important players.
The strategy includes measures to reduce private motorized transport while encouraging walking, cycling and the use of public transport. In this sense, the renovation of Finkenborner Weg could not only represent an improvement in terms of road conditions, but also represent a step towards sustainable mobility in the region.
The city is hoping for a quick agreement with the construction company in order to ensure that the construction work is carried out as smoothly as possible for the residents. A safe and easy-to-drive Finkenborn path could soon be created, which represents a noticeable improvement for both drivers and cyclists.
