Amelgatzen Education Center: A future project for our children!

In charming Amelgatzen, the project for a new educational center is taking increasingly concrete shape. The winning design was chosen from a renowned architectural competition in August, and Mayor Dominik Petters reports on intensive coordination discussions and workshops with everyone affected. The aim is to unite the local primary school and the Hämelschenburg daycare center under one roof and thus create a future-oriented educational facility.

The competition, for which ten architects from all over Germany submitted their ideas, ended with the design by the Hamburg office Eisfeld Engel Architekten BDA. This fascinating plan calls for two gabled buildings to be connected. This not only creates a spacious space, but also a friendly atmosphere for children aged one to ten who can learn together here. [Dewezet] reports that the estimated cost of the entire construction is around 12.4 million euros, with more precise cost estimates to be presented by next summer.

Planning details

The planning includes around 1,900 m² of usable space, which will be provided for both the primary school and the daycare center. Functional room layouts and modern learning models are of great importance here. The educational concept is coordinated in close collaboration with the management of the two institutions as well as the responsible experts from the architectural office in order to achieve the best spatial concept. This ensures that both the building and the learning methods are optimally coordinated.

In order to advance preparations, the first demolition work on the existing buildings is scheduled for next year. The caretaker's house will be demolished in April/May so that space can be made for teaching containers. These are to be set up during the summer holidays as the number of children has risen to over 90 and additional space has become necessary. [Tenders-Germany] emphasizes that these measures are intended to find quick, interim solutions while the new educational center is now taking shape step by step.

A look into the future

The final competition dates and specifications for the coming months are clearly structured, with the final decisions being made by a jury. In addition to the design quality, the focus is also on criteria such as the urban development integration and the economic viability of the project. The municipality of Emmerthal, as the procurer, closely monitors the procurement process and ensures that everything goes smoothly. This is also reflected in the support of the local council, which recently supported an discovery table for the Hämelschenburg daycare center with 550 euros.

In summary, it can be said that the educational center in Amelgatzen will be an exemplary example of modern educational architecture in northern Germany that will meet the needs of the community. Not only is construction taking place here, but the focus is also on the future of children, which is very well received in a community.
