Dangerous e-scooters and dead trees: What is the city doing?

In Hamelin, a dead tree above Pyrmonter Strasse is causing concern. Burkhard Jürgens, a resident of the area, pointed out the potential danger posed by the tree located to the left of the bus stop in the direction of the old Klütbahnhof. He has already contacted an employee of the forestry department, but she said that nothing has been done so far. City spokesman Thomas Wahmes explained that the tree is on private property and the owner has already been informed. The forestry department itself is not responsible for the matter, which does not calm the situation.

Another concern of residents concerns the closure of the footpath and cycle path between Wertheimer Straße and Ohrsche Landstraße, which has been in place for several weeks. Dorit Stuckenbrock and other residents are surprised that no work is taking place despite the closure. Svenja Kreft, city spokeswoman, informed that paving and asphalting work was completed by a specialist company last Friday. However, the barriers had still not been removed as of Tuesday afternoon, which caused a lack of understanding among citizens.

Dangers in road traffic

Jan Owczarski raises another safety problem: a danger zone between the Am Schöt crossing path and Hoffmann-von-Fallersleben-Straße. He suggests installing a bollard to prevent unauthorized vehicle use of the pedestrian and cycle path. However, the city administration currently sees no need for action and would like to take the concerns seriously, but will check the area again.

A recurring theme is the reckless e-scooter drivers in Heßlingen and Hessisch Oldendorf, who often ignore traffic rules. In this context, Elisabeth Hönings reported an increase in dangerous driving maneuvers. Manfred Ahrens criticizes the fact that reports about cycling accidents often do not mention whether those involved in the accident were wearing a helmet. In his opinion, this could have an important educational effect and contribute to greater road safety.

Speaking of safety and history: Axel Düvel has a personal concern. He asks about a historical photo that may possibly show his grandfather, Hermann Düvel. Jürgen Schoormann confirms the connection to the question, which causes excitement in the group.

Road traffic challenges are complex and it seems that residents have a good grasp of safety issues. They hope that their concerns will be heard and acted upon.
