On the night of Saturday, November 30, 2025, a serious accident occurred in Hanover. A 59-year-old man was hit by a light rail and trapped. The fire department had to intervene actively with hydraulic equipment to raise the track and free the injured man. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. This reported NDR.
While the incident took place in the Vahrenwald district, there were around 50 passengers on the light rail at the time of the accident. Surprisingly, they, like the tram driver, remained uninjured despite emergency braking. The circumstances of the incident are now being investigated in more detail. The police have already initiated an investigation against the 42-year-old tram driver for negligent bodily harm and are asking witnesses to contact the traffic accident service on (0511) 109 18 88 to obtain further information about the accident.
Another serious light rail accident
Hildesheimer Straße was completely closed in the affected area until around 10 p.m. while the police took over the investigation. Proceedings for negligent bodily harm were also initiated there. The authorities are still looking for witnesses who can provide information about the accident or the identity of the injured woman.
