On Thursday, July 3, 2025, visitors can expect a fun afternoon in the Welfengarten of the Leibniz University of Hanover (LUH) with the traditional summer festival. From 4 p.m. the festival will be heralded with an impressive start through the Luh Big Band. Prof. Dr. Volker Epping, President of the LUH, will welcome the guests with his welcoming speech and thus give the starting signal for a colorful afternoon, which is aimed at students, employees and alumni.
The summer festival offers something for everyone. With 27 different stands, visitors can experience interesting activities from institutes, faculties and facilities. Participation and experimentation are the order of the day. From sporting promotions for children at the Faculty of Economics to relaxing offers such as the book flea market of the university library - there is something for every taste. You can also try your luck on the wheel of fortune of the Center for University Sports or participate in the flag rates of the University Bureau for International.

Of course, culinary care is not neglected. The selection ranges from refreshing snacks such as ice cream, crepes and french fries to hearty grill dishes. The drinks are also not saved: cocktails, beer, wine and non -alcoholic refreshments are ready. From 7 p.m. the music program will be continued with live performances so that guests can end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere.
The wine stand of the legal faculty, which will offer delicious wines from southern Styria in Austria in cooperation with the Alumni Association, will be particularly noteworthy. This special connection to Austria not only makes the festival a local event, but also gives it an international flair. In all of these offers, admission to the summer festival will be free of charge, which will certainly attract many guests.a festival for the community

In addition to the fun and entertainment, there is also the possibility to learn more about the various facilities and their offers. So being together is not only enriched by music and dishes, but also through the exchange of ideas and experiences.
In a Germany -wide comparison of the largest festivals and events, it becomes clear that festivals such as Rock am Ring, Lollapalooza and Wacken often shape the summer months. The LUH's summer festival, on the other hand, offers a family atmosphere that is specifically tailored to the interests of the university community and thus exercises its own special attraction. This shows that even smaller festivals can play a valuable role in the region's event calendar and create space for personal encounters.
