Future of medicine: Understandable communication for all patients!
The future of medicine is now the focus of the “Medicine of the Future – Research” event, which is taking place as part of the November of Science in Hanover. Hannover.de reports that the main focus is on patient-friendly communication, even in times of rapid technological advances. The event is supported by Digital Health City Hannover (DHCH) and brings together experts from medicine, research and therapy. The aim is to prepare information in such a way that it is understandable for everyone and that individual healthcare is promoted.
What's particularly pleasing is that the event is barrier-free and therefore easily accessible for wheelchair users. The organizers, Digitales Hannover e.V. and hannoverimpuls GmbH, have set themselves high goals. There is no division for children, but registration and further information can be found directly on the event page.
Artificial intelligence in healthcare
Digitalization and especially artificial intelligence (AI) are currently significantly changing the healthcare system. According to the information from Fraunhofer IKS Various technologies such as electronic patient records (ePR) and AI-supported data management systems are used to support the prediction and planning of resources. Operating rooms benefit from robotic systems, and intelligent assistants provide support for medical professionals. Telemedical initial consultations and individualized therapies are significantly improved by cognitive systems, while digital solutions support follow-up care at home.
A connected digital infrastructure that brings together patient data, public health data and information from health apps is crucial for optimizing healthcare offerings.
Global perspectives on digital health
The relevance of digital innovations for healthcare systems is also being discussed at the international level. A meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) took place on February 21, 2025 to discuss the impact of digital technologies on healthcare in Europe and Central Asia. How WHO reported that Member States, partner organizations and civil society representatives took part in this event.
The conference aimed to shed light on the opportunities and challenges of digital health. The most important topics included equal opportunities, individualized care and the role of AI. The exchange on optimizing resource allocation and anticipating patient flows shows how important it is to provide appropriate support to health and nursing staff. Another focus was on the balance between more efficiently used technology and person-oriented healthcare.
It is therefore clear that the path to the digital future in healthcare not only entails technological innovations, but also requires urgent action in communication with patients.
