Wolfsburg triumphs in the Advent tournament: won the cup with a penalty shootout!
On December 2nd, 2025, the traditional Advent tournament of the NFV Hildesheim-Holzminden district took place in the Eschershausen sports hall. With a total of twelve teams, the tournament was well attended and brought football-loving spectators together. At this event, the young players born in 2015 showed their talents and fought for the coveted trophy.
The event, which attracted a lot of interest in advance, started at 9:30 a.m. and attracted many fans supporting their favorite teams. In an exciting tournament format, the participating teams played in two groups of six. The best teams in each group qualified for the semi-finals before the grand final at around 3:45 p.m. MTSV Eschershausen provided catering for the spectators throughout the tournament.
Tournament history and results
In Group A, which included some of the strongest teams, the Hildesheim-Holzminden Nord district selection and the team from Wolfsburg prevailed. The Hildesheim youth team won the group with an impressive record of five wins from five games, while Wolfsburg qualified with four wins and one defeat. The table from Group A was as follows:

In Group B, where the southern selection from Hildesheim-Holzminden was also represented, the team also did well, but did not reach the semi-finals with seven points. The table from Group B was as follows:

Exciting semi-finals and finals
In the semi-finals, the Hildesheim-Holzminden Nord district team met Nordharz and were defeated 0-2. On the other hand, Wolfsburg reached the final with a narrow 2-1 win against Schaumburg. The final itself offered the spectators a thrilling match that ended 0-0 after regular time. In the decisive seven-meter shootout, Wolfsburg held its nerve and secured overall victory.
The award ceremony was carried out by Marc Düring, Dirk Schünemann and Friedrich Münzberger. A big thank you went to MTSV Eschershausen, who organized the event excellently, as well as to the referees Hauke and Lasse Ritterbusch. This event has once again proven that regional football in the NFV district of Hildesheim-Holzminden is alive and conveys joy in the game.
