Shaping the future: Students are looking for concrete career paths in Hildesheim!

Today, October 30, 2025, is dedicated to career orientation and creative commemorations. In Hildesheim, an exciting event took place in the vocational training center of the Chamber of Crafts, which aimed to improve networking between schools, companies and institutions. Hildesheimer Presse reports that school management from the region, members of the Hi Zukunft initiative and representatives of the HI-REG business development agency and the Chamber of Crafts took part in this exchange.

A central theme of the event was “Experiential career orientation”. Participants were able to find out about skilled trades and take part in offers such as application training, short internships and company visits. It became clear that many students in the region miss orientation in their professional lives. A survey by the city of Hildesheim showed that over 60% of the 2,200 students surveyed did not know what career they wanted to pursue and almost 70% had no contact with companies. Matthias Ullrich from HI-REG spoke about the urgency of recruiting motivated young talent and creating perspectives for young people.

Practical orientation as key

In addition, Svenja Fuhrich from the city of Hildesheim expressed the students' desire for more practical experience and direct exchange with companies. Aron-David Zgoll from the Chamber of Crafts added that many young people often know little about apprenticeships in the skilled trades. The overarching goal of the event was to create a practical, networked and future-oriented transition from school to work.

Schools have the opportunity to select specific action packages for better career orientation, which should minimize effort and maximize success. “There is something going on,” was the general sentiment among the participants, because it is important to show young people prospects and give them a better start into professional life.

Día de Muertos celebrations

Secret Seattle reports that the Ofrenda can be visited during regular zoo opening hours until November 2nd.

In addition to the celebrations, the opening day featured numerous activities such as decorating picture frames and themed coloring pages. Anyone interested in participating in the animal ofrenda can find more information on the Woodland Park Zoo website. From now until October 31st, digital contributions can be submitted, which will be presented in the form of a slideshow. The zoo shows its creative side, which makes this event a unique experience.

Whether in the educational professions in Hildesheim or in the festive celebrations in Seattle - the topics of networking and remembrance are more relevant than ever. Both events illustrate the importance of building bridges and maintaining cultural and professional connections.
