Men's dinner in Lüneburg: Tanja Grimberg calls for courageous changes!
On October 30, 2025, the traditional men's dinner of the Lüneburg Merchants Association (VLK) took place in the central building of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg. Around 300 guests were present, including not only merchants but also many women, which made for a welcome mix. For the first time, Lieutenant General Dr. Christian Freuding, the Army Inspector, was on the guest list, and he caused quite a stir.
Kaufleute President Tanja Grimberg welcomed the journalist Nikolaus Blome, who was invited as a guest speaker. In her opening speech, Grimberg made it clear that in Germany there is a “stuck” in many areas such as schools, hospitals and administration. She called for more determination and a new beginning in Lüneburg. She emphasized the need for courage, responsibility and trust in order to meet economic and social challenges. The lack of teachers and the long waiting times for building permits were just some of the criticized issues that particularly affect entrepreneurs and merchants.
Political analyzes and culinary delights
In his lecture, Nikolaus Blome analyzed the political situation in Berlin and warned of the growing threat to the CDU from the AfD. At the same time, he appealed to the Left, the SPD and the Greens to support the CDU in order to ensure rapid political action. After the powerful speeches, guests were able to enjoy a delicious dinner that included roulades, winter vegetables and a delicately balanced tonka bean panna cotta - a good deal on the palate!
- Hauptgang: Rouladen von der friesischen Färse mit Rotkohl, Wintergemüse, Klöße, Heidekartoffeln & Jus
- Vegane Option: Rosmarin Roulade mit Rotkohl, Wintergemüse, Klöße, Heidekartoffeln & Jus
- Dessert: Dessertbuffet mit Creme Brûlée und Tonkabohnen-Panna-Cotta/Heidelbeeren
The evening ended with a traditional driving service from the Dannacker & Laudien car center, which ensured a safe journey home - after all, getting home safely and enjoying a sociable evening are many basic prerequisites for promoting fun and community.
Looking into the future
The VLK is already planning the next men's dinner for October 30, 2025, at which Nikolaus Blome will once again be the speaker. His topic will deal with the question of whether Chancellor Merz can bring Germany and Europe out of inertia and give medium-sized businesses new hope. The response to this year's topics and the culture of discussion show that such events are not just about good food, but also about the exchange of important ideas that can shape the future for Lüneburg and beyond.
Anyone who would like to take part should register by October 16, 2025, as the invitation is personal and non-transferable. If you have any questions, you can contact Christina Schlee at sekretariat@verein-lueneburger-kaufleute.de.
In the end, there is only one thing left for the guests to say: they are not only fighting for the future and the development of Lüneburg, but are also celebrating together - and with a dash of wonderful cuisine!
