Roundabout in Salzhausen: full closure expected from October 13th!
In a few days, the urgently needed construction work on the roundabout at the entrance to Salzhausen will begin. How Lüneburg Current reported, the repair will begin on October 13, 2025. The roundabout connects the L 216 with the streets “Alte Baumschule” and “Witthöftsfelde” and has made the headlines in recent months due to repeated asphalt problems. Selective repairs have already had to be carried out to ensure the safety of road users.
The construction work is being carried out under full closure, which means that motorists must expect restrictions. The work is expected to take two weeks. A wide-area diversion will be set up: The diversion route will lead from Garlstorf via Landesstraße 212 to Egestorf, further along Kreisstraße 5 to Eyendorf and finally via Kreisstraße 4 back to Salzhausen. The opposite direction is also affected. In addition, a diversion via Toppenstedt is not possible, as there is also a complete closure in the area of the bridge structure.
Redirection information
In order to still be able to shop in Salzhausen, the hypermarkets can still be reached via the L 234 (Winsener Straße), Eschenweg and “Alte Baumschule” street. The Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport asks residents and road users to understand the disruptions and disruptions to be expected during the construction work. The costs for the repair work amount to 190,000 euros and are borne entirely by the state of Lower Saxony.
While the work in Salzhausen is imminent, the city of Bochum is also planning measures to increase traffic safety. So reported Bochum Online that the city will be rebuilding the roundabout on Hansastrasse and Gewerbestrasse from Sunday, October 12th to minimize the risk of accidents. There will also be a complete closure here, which is expected to last until November 2nd. This measure has become particularly necessary because in the past there have been increasing accidents due to inadequate driving behavior in the outside lane.
Importance of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan
The work on roads and roundabouts such as those in Salzhausen and Bochum are part of broader transport infrastructure projects carried out as part of the Federal transport infrastructure plan 2030 are planned. This plan is based on around 2,000 project proposals for the expansion and construction of transport routes in Germany. Each project is assessed on its necessity, advantages and disadvantages to ensure that investments in infrastructure meet future transport needs.
In summary, we are facing an exciting time in which not only road work will ensure greater safety, but larger projects will also be launched. It remains to be hoped that citizens can navigate these temporary diversions and restrictions well.
