Open consultation hours at the weekly market: Questions for the city tour!

The Hanseatic city of Lüneburg, known for its picturesque brick buildings and historic streets, once again has an interesting offer for its citizens. On Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Mayor Claudia Kalisch invites you to an open consultation hour at the weekly market, at the level of the regional court. Together with the administrative management, she will answer questions about the city and the work in the town hall. This initiative follows the positive response to the premiere event in May and is now offered regularly to give citizens the opportunity to exchange ideas directly.

The city of Lüneburg, which has been part of German history for over 1000 years, has around 78,000 inhabitants and is idyllically located between the Lüneburg Heath and the Elbe floodplain. It is often referred to as the “Salt and Hanseatic City” and impresses not only with its historic architecture, but also with a pleasant atmosphere and a diverse range of gastronomic offerings. From Gothic churches to romantic squares, the city looks its best whatever the weather, making it a popular destination for walks and excursions.

An open ear for all concerns

In addition to the mayor, the first city councilor Markus Moßmann, city planning officer Heike Gundermann, city treasurer Matthias Rink and department head Gabriele Scholz are invited to the open consultation hour. This offers citizens the opportunity to address their concerns directly to the city management and to find solutions in personal discussions. An excellent opportunity to exchange ideas about current topics and obtain information about the city administration.

This form of consultation is deliberately offered on a Saturday to make it easier for citizens to take part. Take the opportunity to find out about the latest developments in Lüneburg and clarify your questions in a relaxed atmosphere.

Vibrant city views

Lüneburg not only offers a rich history, but also numerous opportunities for strolling, both in the charming shopping streets and in the cozy center. With historical sites, green spaces and a variety of events, it is a place that attracts young and old alike. Anyone who visits the city can embark on culinary journeys of discovery and enjoy the special flair that makes this place so unique.

Whether with a coffee in one of the relaxed squares or a walk through the romantic alleys - the city on the Ilmenau has something to offer for everyone. So, don't forget: November 8th is the opportunity to actively participate in the city's design and ask the questions that matter to you. Information about the open consultation hours can also be found on the city's website hansestadt-lueneburg or at lueneburg.info.
