On Thursday evening, November 8th, 2025, a dramatic incident occurred in Rotenburg (Wümme) that kept the police and fire brigade on their toes. Fortunately, they only suffered minor injuries.
It had already become clear that it was an illegal car race. The 24-year-old drove a race on Mühlenstraße, federal highway 215, together with a 19-year-old driver and his 17-year-old co-driver. At speeds well above the legal limits, the driver lost control of his green BMW M1 in a curve and crashed through the bridge railing. Rescue measures and consequential damage

In total, federal highway 215 was closed for several hours while the rescue work was carried out. The crashed car was eventually recovered using a tow truck crane. On the orders of the Verden public prosecutor's office, the police confiscated the two Berlin racing vehicles as well as the driver's licenses and cell phones of those involved.
Call for witnesses to come forward
The police have launched an investigation into the events and are looking for witnesses to the illegal car racing and the accident.
