Lower Saxony celebrates the Zoo Days: Free entry for animal lovers!
This year's Lower Saxony Zoo Days will take place on the weekend of September 26th and 27th, 2025, and if previous years are anything to go by, the event will be a real hit. A total of 24 zoological institutions from Lower Saxony and Bremen present themselves and invite animal lovers to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of animals. A real highlight is the motto of the event: “Only those who know animals will protect animals”. This illustrates the central message that education and responsibility for species and nature conservation must go hand in hand. NDR reports that the zoos not only offer numerous educational opportunities during Zoo Days, but also emphasize the importance of their work in light of the global biodiversity crisis.
Anyone who has an annual ticket to one of the participating zoos can walk into all other zoos for free throughout the weekend. A great deal with many advantages! But there is also a lot to discover for newcomers: The variety of zoos ranges from coastal regions to the foothills of the Harz Mountains, offering a multi-faceted insight into the animal world and its protection. Press Lower Saxony highlights that the participating establishments offer a varied program, including special tours and public feedings.

At the Biosphaerium Elbtalaue in Bleckede, visitors can expect exciting tours, including through the aquarium and the beaver enclosure. These take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. and are included in the admission price. The zoos aim to offer special experiences and provide regular guests with real added value in order to inspire other future conservationists.
