Dedicated employees honored: Prizes for Niko Schlump and the Leuchtenberger team!
A special event took place in Oldenburg on November 29, 2025, when the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture awarded the “Employee Prize for Special Commitment” as part of its celebratory event. This year, two outstanding winners were honored: Niko Schlump from the Lucassen dairy farm in Barßel and the team from the Friedhelm Leuchtenberger horticultural company from Lingen-Brögbern.
Niko Schlump has proven to be a pillar of the dairy farm over many years. His specialist knowledge and sense of responsibility are indispensable for herd management, feeding, animal health and insemination. What is particularly noteworthy is that he took over management of the business during a family crisis in order to maintain the economic fortunes. His loyalty and commitment were expressly recognized by Anita and Michael Lucassen, the owners of the dairy farm. Schlump also played a key role in introducing technical innovations and helped implement investments such as the farm power plant, which drove innovation and operational efficiency.
The strong team from Leuchtenberger
The team at the Leuchtenberger horticultural business showed exceptional cohesion and commitment when the farm manager couple became seriously ill in May 2023. During this challenging time, the workforce independently took over the organization of the business and mastered the production and marketing of summer flowers during the peak season. The employees trained independently in business and technical processes and even organized the training and feeding of helpers.
Katrin and Friedhelm Leuchtenberger highlighted the incredible team effort and thanked their employees for the support provided during such a difficult time. Chamber Vice President Dagmar Heyens praised not only the team spirit, but also the commitment and flexibility of the employees. Another piece of praise goes to the Chamber of Agriculture, which has been awarding the prize since 2014 and thus recognizes the special achievements in the green professions.
Pricing information and suggestions
The “Employee Prize for Special Commitment” is worth 500 euros per person or 1,000 euros for a team. Suggestions can be submitted by colleagues or superiors, which underlines the appreciation for exceptional commitment to agriculture. The awards ceremony traditionally took place on the evening before the chamber meeting, and this year around 250 guests gathered to celebrate the award winners. The importance of well-trained specialists in agriculture becomes clear once again.
