Garbage collection on June 17th: How to collect it without any problems!
Today, June 17th, is not just an ordinary day, but also International Garbage Man Day, also known as Global Garbage Man Day. This special event aims to raise public awareness of the important work of waste collectors. AWIGO waste management district Osnabrück GmbH takes advantage of this opportunity and offers valuable tips on optimal waste disposal.
The correct provision of the garbage containers is the be-all and end-all. The containers should always be placed with the lid opening facing the street. It is also important that the bin is only filled to such an extent that the lid remains closed. A small but nice tip: If possible, place the containers in pairs and do not place additional quantities in front of them, but directly next to them. This ensures that everything runs smoothly and makes the work of the garbage collector easier.
Avoid obstacles and ensure access
To ensure unobstructed access, any obstacles such as trees, posts or parked cars between the bins and the road should be avoided. Particularly in the warm season, it is worth cutting back hedges and bushes in good time. At construction sites, the containers should definitely be placed outside the restricted area so that garbage collection is not hindered.
Another point concerns parking behavior. A collection vehicle must always be able to pass through the road on collection days. Turning hammers should therefore be kept clear and only parked in marked areas in traffic-calmed zones. This ensures that the garbage collectors can carry out their work unhindered.
Tips for separating waste
An important aspect of waste disposal is the correct separation of waste. Incorrectly filled trash cans are not emptied, which means clean separation is crucial. In Germany, private individuals can separate their waste into four groups: the yellow bin for packaging waste, the blue bin for paper and cardboard, the organic bin for organic waste and the residual waste bin for everything that does not belong in the other categories. There are also special take-back systems for batteries and light bulbs that do not belong in regular waste containers.
AWIGO not only offers information on waste separation via its Waste ABC in the app and on the website, but has also made waste separation instructions available for download in eleven different languages. The dedicated chatbot “AWI” is also available to answer questions about disposal quickly and easily.
Customize containers and use other services
If your own bin is not enough, you can either use additional bags for residual waste, which are subject to a fee, or you can order a larger bin via the customer portal. This is also available in the AWIGO service center. Recycling centers can be used for quantities of paper that exceed the normal amount to ensure environmentally conscious disposal.
Another plus point: If tours are canceled, AWIGO informs its customers immediately via the website, app and WhatsApp channel. This way you always stay up to date and can easily adapt to any changes.
We can all do our part to make the work of garbage collectors easier and to protect the environment.
