Osnabrück inspires the city bike 2025: Records and charity spirit!

Osnabrück, Deutschland - The city of Osnabrück is proud of its impressive achievements in city cycling 2025. On July 9, 2025, several records were set up that not only motivate cyclists: inside the region, but also support an important charity campaign. This year, 224 teams took part, which corresponds to an increase of 41 groups compared to the previous year. The 745,179 kilometers, an impressive plus of 81,235 kilometers compared to 2023, made a total of 3,963 participants, where the cyclists: inside covered 663,944 kilometers. These figures make it clear: cycling has a boom in Osnabrück.

The lively participation of political representation is particularly gratifying: 26 council members participated and covered an average of 26.71 kilometers. Osnabrück thus leads this category among the municipalities with 100,000 to 499,999 inhabitants and holds the title "Rad -active local parliament". The best cyclists among the schools deserve the praise: The team of the school foundation was the top with 305 participants: inside and 56,451 kilometers, followed by the Graf Stauffenberg-Gymnasium with 32,897 kilometers and the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences with 29,920 kilometers.

The city bike 2025 was not only organized as a sporting challenge, but also as a charity campaign in favor of the project "Herz & Pedale: Die DistränkriScha" by Helpage Deutschland e.V. 7 cents were flowed into the project per lumped kilometer. Network 1648, the Sparkasse Osnabrück and the Bedford Foundation Foundation donated a total of 55,000 euros. A highlight will be the final event on August 30th at the "Day of Lower Saxony", which will be organized for the first time by Osnabrück. City cycling has established itself as an international sustainability competition that invites everyone to leave the car standing for 21 days and actively ride a bike. For the first time, this event was implemented as a charity campaign to promote the mobility of older people.

The project to promote the district rickscha of Helpage Germany aims to enable senior mobility and social contacts. In Osnabrück, around 25% of the population are over 65 years old, many live isolated. Voluntary RiScha drivers: Inside, trips offer and create opportunities for meetings that enrich everyday life. In addition, interested citizens can also start their own fundraising campaigns as part of the city cycling in order to gain even more support for the RiScha project.
