Peheim: The best place in the world celebrates 750 years of stories!

In the middle of the picturesque landscape of the Oldenburger Münsterland, Peheim stands out - not only because of its idyllic location, but also as the “best place in the world”. With around 1,200 inhabitants, Peheim is the second largest town in the municipality of Molbergen and inspires its residents with an active club life that has something to offer for everyone. From table tennis to the activities of the shooting club and the Catholic rural youth, there is always something going on here.

It's not just the current liveliness that attracts people, but also the rich history of the place, which dates back to the 13th century. It was first mentioned in a document in 1275, and Peheim has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, as the fascinating devil's stones in Bischofsbrück show.

Big anniversary in sight

In August 2025, Peheim will celebrate a proud anniversary: 750 years since it was first mentioned in documents. The local club team around Clemens Westendorf has already worked diligently on the preparations. A festive weekend is coming up on August 30th and 31st, 2025, coinciding with the popular Peheim Fair. On this special day, both natives of Peheim and guests from politics and church are warmly invited.

A highlight of the festival will be a special concert by the Peheim Music Association on Saturday evening, followed by a large anniversary ball in the festival tent. Sunday begins with an ecumenical service and a morning pint at which local clubs present their skills. A parade on Sunday afternoon, planned with around 30 themed options for walking groups and motif floats, will round off the anniversary weekend.

A place with a future

During the anniversary year, the organizers also want to show that Peheim is a sustainable village. Here you have a primary school, a kindergarten, and lively clubs - a mixture that holds the community firmly together. In addition, successful companies testify to the economic stability of the region. Another highlight is the Summer Night Festival, which has been organized by the KLJB since 1975 and attracts over 2,000 visitors every year.

On November 6, 2023, all Peheim residents are invited to the presentation of the detailed planning of the anniversary to celebrate the upcoming event together and exchange ideas. The people of Peheim enter this festive season with joy and anticipation and invite everyone to become part of their story.
