StadtStrand in Salzgitter-Bad: A complete success for the city center!
On September 1, 2025, the lights on the StadtStrand in Salzgitter-Bad will go out. In brilliant weather, Mayor Frank Klingebiel, Jan Bohling from WIS and Katja Karl from FAIRWORX look back on an extremely successful event that far exceeded expectations. Salzgitter.de reports that the event, which took place from August 15th to 31st on Klesmerplatz, not only attracted numerous visitors, but also received consistently positive feedback.
The concept of the city beach, which goes hand in hand with a concept of revitalizing the city center, turned out to be a stroke of luck. “The friendly atmosphere was further underlined by the committed cooperation of the local clubs!” says Katja Karl. With a combination of sand, beach furniture and attractive events, the team created a very special holiday atmosphere in the middle of Salzgitter.
A diverse program for everyone
The event attracted visitors with a colorful mix of daily offerings, especially for children and young people. The little guests were able to put their creative skills to the test in sandcastle competitions or have a lot of fun with hobby horsing. The support of the local restaurateurs who run the beach stalls was also a blessing - the stalls were made available free of charge as part of the funding program, which benefited many companies.
There was also sport: in front of the savings bank you could play beach volleyball, beach football or Viking chess. And for the mothers and fathers there was even free rental of play equipment and beach toys for the children. On the last weekend in August, the event was crowned with a final event for CITY CYCLING/SCHOOL CYCLING, supported by the “Ascension” group from MTV Salzgitter.
Support as a success factor
The implementation of the StadtStrand was only possible with funding from the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building. How bmwsb.bund.de As explained, a total of around 145,000 euros flowed into the project, with 90% coming from federal funds. This is part of a larger program aimed at revitalizing city centers and supporting local retailers, which has brought much-needed revitalization to Salzgitter-Bad.
Mayor Klingebiel also announced that budget funds are already being planned for 2026 in order to continue the success story of the StadtStrand. This place could remain a popular destination for many citizens and visitors in the future and enable that holiday feeling on your doorstep.
Overall, the event shows how important such creative approaches are to making inner cities attractive and bringing people together. In its short time, the StadtStrand has already been very popular and well received - what else can come?
