Kiel, Deutschland - The Kiel Week, one of the largest sailing events in the world, came to an end on June 29, 2025 and left around three million visitors in the city. The motto of this year's event, "at home under stars", attracted people in droves. The spectacle celebrated its end with an impressive fireworks display above the Kiel Fjord, which lit at 11:00 p.m. and dipped the night in a sparkling light. The anticipation for the event was great, because an impressive drone and laser show was also promised that inspired visitors. A special highlight of the Kiel Week was the windjammer parade, which took place on Saturday and captivated the spectators on both land and on the water. Around 170,000 people persecuted the impressive spectacle, in which the sailing school ship "Gorch Fock" sailed under full sailing at the top of the parade. The conditions were optimal and the wind conditions contributed to the perfect atmosphere. The "Gorch Fock" was on the road with 6.5 knots (approx. 12 km/h), which required an exceptional permit, since a parade speed of 3.5 to 4 knots is usually provided.
