Beach handball inspires Uelzen: D-Youth shows exciting tournament!

Last weekend, the Fischerhof in Uelzen became the venue for an exciting D-Youth beach handball tournament, which was organized by Kaja Ungerman as part of her federal voluntary service at TV Uelzen. Five enthusiastic teams competed against each other and it was a real celebration for the young athletes. TV Uelzen I secured first place, followed by TSV Nettelkamp and the second team from TVU.

Kaja Ungerman noticed with joy how the young people gained more self-confidence and steadily improved from game to game. The positive feedback from participants gives hope that this will not be the last tournament of this kind. Great praise also goes to the pavilions, which offered shaded areas for both athletes and spectators, as well as the refreshment station, which provided snacks and drinks for physical well-being.

Increasing interest in beach handball

Ulf Dittberner, the beach base coach of the Lower Saxony-Bremen handball association, was very pleased with the growing interest in beach handball. He sees this sport as an important addition to traditional indoor handball. “It’s fun and fair,” emphasizes Dittberner. There are also the first scientific studies that show that beach handball players suffer fewer injuries during the indoor season. The goal remains clear: beach handball in the region should be further expanded and professionalized.

The trend towards beach handball is not just a regional issue. This sport is also enjoying growing popularity in Hesse. The Hessian Handball Association (HHV) has launched the HHV Beach Series, which has been an integral part of the annual tournament calendar since 2021. This series has established itself as a real attraction for players and spectators. Particularly pleasing: Since 2023, tournaments have also been offered for E and D youth teams. The tournaments are not just a sporting event, but also a community experience during the summer months.

Dates of the HHV Beach Series

Several exciting tournaments are planned for the summer months:

  • 14./15.06. in Datterode (männliche und weibliche E- bis B-Jugend)
  • 21./22.06. in Langenselbold (mE, mD und wD-Jugend)
  • 28.06. in Bensheim (weibliche D-Jugend)
  • 05./06.07. in Nieder-Roden (mC, mB und wB-Jugend)

With so many opportunities to exercise, it is clear that beach handball will continue to be very popular. If you would like to find out more about the event, you can contact David Delp from HHV directly.

The spirit of community and sporting competition was clearly noticeable at the Fischerhof in Uelzen. The young athletes will have a lot to offer in the coming period as beach handball continues to make waves. [az-online] reports that ... and [hessen-handball] highlights ...
