Uelzen Library: New campaigns for bookworms starting soon!
The Uelzen City Library has exciting news in store! From July 29th, two innovative hands-on activities will start that will delight bookworms and bookworms. Library director Linda Schützhold attaches great importance to personal recommendations. With this in mind, all visitors can share their own book tips by writing short reviews on prepared cards. These pieces of paper are then placed straight into the corresponding book so that other readers can benefit from the recommendations. As the Uelzen press reports, this is a wonderful opportunity to share your own reading experience with others.
The city library not only promotes the sharing of stories among users, but also the evaluation of media. From now on, the media can be rated with up to five stars in the city library's web catalog. This gives readers the opportunity to give their favorite titles a voice and highlight popular books.
A surprise experience: blind dates with books
Another highlight will be the “Blind Dates with Books” campaign, which starts on August 5th. Literature enthusiasts can expect an exciting surprise here. Packaged novels with few clues are waiting to be discovered. Anyone looking for new reading adventures will be happy to be surprised by unexpected titles. This campaign particularly appeals to readers' curiosity and could create new favorite books.
In a completely different context, the “AktenEinsicht” project sheds light on important social issues, in particular violence against women, which often remains hidden. Reality shows that every third woman in Germany is affected by physical and/or sexual violence. The project tells harrowing stories of women who have had such experiences. Through empathetic insights from Christina Clemm, a criminal lawyer, the challenges that those affected have to overcome become visible. The stories address, among other things, how it is possible to regain self-respect and self-determination after experiences of violence. This topic, the Find books is shocking, but important to raise awareness of this issue.
Promoting reading and media education
Last but not least, the city library also supports media education for children and young people. With a wide range of different media, from picture books to DVDs, the fun of reading and learning is encouraged. The City of Frankfurt emphasizes that children and young people up to the age of 18 have access to a wide range of media free of charge. Here, young readers will not only find books about exciting topics such as dinosaurs or space, but also comics, audio books and even computer games.
In addition, special offers to promote language skills such as book cinemas and reading activities with iPads are offered. This ensures that the city library is not only a place for reading, but also actively contributes to the education and digital skills of the youngest. Parents can find out about suitable literature for their children and thus support the educational process.
