Handball fever in Uelzen: professionals, debuts and an exciting supporting program!
Something is happening in handball in Uelzen! On August 16th it will be “Attention, ball over!” when the first preparatory games for the TV Uelzen men’s and women’s teams take place in the sports hall at the Herzog-Ernst-Gymnasium. For this occasion, the support association is organizing the “1st Handball Day”, which serves as the start of the 2025/26 season. Felix Stuhlmann, who shone in the first test match against SG Zweidorf/Bortfeld and suffered a 35:29 defeat, gives a first taste of what fans can expect in the coming months.
As az-online reports, the event also has a certain economic goal. The aim is to create a professional environment for sponsors in order to put the TV Uelzen handball department in the right light. In addition to the sporting performances, visitors can look forward to a tasty barbecue buffet and refreshing drinks. A new attraction will also be introduced: the goal-throwing speed measurement, which is not only exciting for the players, but also brings a little bit of the competitive atmosphere into the hall for the spectators.
An exciting afternoon
The games start at 2:15 p.m. with the female D and C youth teams from TuS Oldau-Ovelgönne. From 4 p.m. things get serious for the association league men, who meet HV Lüneburg - who came third last year and fought a heated 28:28 against Uelzen in the home game. In the second half of the season, however, there was a defeat of 27:31 in Lüneburg. An exciting exchange of blows awaits the spectators!
The highlight of the day promises to be the duel between the TVU women and the junior team from the third division team TV Hannover-Badenstedt. In this match, Tanja Engel will make her debut as the new TVU women's coach. She has already prepared her new protégés for the challenges in several training sessions. As a former youth coach at SV Garßen-Celle, she brings a breath of fresh air and a rejuvenation of the team in order to create a performance-oriented basis for women's handball in Uelzen. Engel is already planning transfers to strengthen the squad for the coming season.
