The work was originally scheduled to be completed in 2036, but the urgent restoration of the facade was unavoidable due to the decay of the Gotland sandstone. Magnus Roos, who leads the project, describes the 2050 conclusion as “fictional”. If the decay is ignored, there could be serious consequences - from falling stones to major damage to the building.
