Oldenburg Foal Awards: Young horses excited in Garrel!
On July 3rd at 2:00 p.m. the Oldenburg Foal Awards will take place at the renowned Wendeln Stud in Garrel, which the region is already looking forward to. With almost 40 registrations, the event promises to be a real highlight for horse enthusiasts. What is particularly exciting is the first presentation of breeder Peter Wendeln's jumping foals, which go back to the Jurwina II line. This includes, among other things, a full brother to O'Hero PW, who has already made a name for himself in show jumping horse competitions.
In addition, there are also half-sisters to successful horses like Jamela, who is internationally successful under the rider Denis Nielsen. Another eye-catcher is the son of Ermitage Kalone, whose half-sister Doriano has already won the Cloppenburg Grand Prix under Kai Thomann. The young horses will compete for the coveted Oldenburg Premium, which honors the best-built and strongest-moving foals, and particularly high-quality foals even have the opportunity to qualify as elite foals and thus pave the way to the foal auctions in Vechta. Other well-known breeders such as Adolf Lanfermann, Hermann and Irmgard Nienaber as well as the Wilhelm Sieverding and Bernd Böckmann breeding communities have also registered foals, which makes the event all the more exciting.
Admission and further information
Admission to the foal awards ceremony is free, so everyone interested has the opportunity to experience the top-class foals up close. If you would like to find out more, you can find out more on the Gestüt Wendeln website.
The tradition of the Oldenburg foal awards continues this year, as there will also be a presentation on July 4th at 2:30 p.m., which this time has a total of almost 50 registrations. Other top-class foals will be shown here, including half-siblings of the successful horses Strombuli, Doriano and Action Hero PW. It should also be noted that Peter's father, Paul Wendeln, has registered a full sister to the Bundeschampionat winners Candy OLD, Caty OLD, Sir Heinrich OLD and Cindy OLD in the dressage foals. These events traditionally attract large numbers of visitors and demonstrate the excellent breeding quality that takes place in the region. Admission here is also free and for further information it is worth visiting this website.
Foal auction and market development
In recent years, foals from stud farms have become more and more in focus, which is also reflected in the successful foal auction that recently took place. The top price of this auction was the foal Esquin Gold FB, which sold for an impressive 52,000 euros, followed by Viva Valena MJ for 50,000 euros. Such prices show that the demand for high-quality foals is constantly growing and is very popular on the international stage. A total of 15 foals changed hands at this auction and the total proceeds were 298,500 euros with an average price of 19,900 euros per foal. The buyers came from Switzerland, Finland and even the British Virgin Islands, among others.
The Oldenburg horse breeding foal awards and auctions offer both breeders and buyers a great platform to network and promote the quality of breeding. So if you are looking for the next champion or are simply interested in fascinating horse breeding, you definitely shouldn't miss the upcoming events at Gestüt Wendeln.
