Police start helicopter operation: missing person in Vechta!

Yesterday a police search operation in the Vechta district caused a stir when a police helicopter was used. The reason for this was a person in need of help who was missing. The extensive search focused on the Vechta and Goldenstedt areas and took place between 7:30 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. Fortunately, the missing person was found safely in the Wildeshausen area. Further information about the person or the background to the need for help has not yet been disclosed, as kreiszeitung.de reports.

The search operation was one of several police operations that took place in recent days. On June 15th, unknown perpetrators tried to break into a residential building on Lange Wand Street in Vechta. However, the attempt failed and resulted in property damage to the window. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Vechta police.

Current security situation in Vechta

On June 16, one day after the failed series of burglaries, a 29-year-old driver from Dinklage who was driving without insurance was checked. His vehicle had de-stamped license plates, which led to criminal proceedings. On the same night, the police and the public were again concerned by an incident in Goldenstedt: an unknown person smashed the passenger window of a Ford Focus and stole valuables.

There was also an accident in Dinklage on the same day. A driver who drove his car off Quakenbrücker Straße left the damaged car and the accident scene behind him without paying any attention to the matter. The police are investigating because of false license plates on the car.

Background to crime in Germany

Such incidents are part of a larger problem that is recorded in the police crime statistics (PKS). The PKS records all crimes and misdemeanors that are processed by the criminal police and is drawn up nationwide according to uniform guidelines. The data from the state criminal investigation offices is incorporated into the statistics compiled by the Federal Criminal Police Office, which provide important information on the security situation, as can be found on berlin.de.

While the search for the person in need of help ended positively, the surrounding area remains vigilant as crimes continue to challenge local security. The police therefore recommend that you pay close attention to potential suspicious activity, especially at this time, and inform the police immediately if anything unusual is noticed.
