Dragon boat film Pink Power inspires Emden: A triumph over breast cancer!

The highly anticipated premiere of the captivating documentary “Pink Power” recently took place at the 35th Emden-Norderney International Film Festival. The film, which had its world premiere on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the festive ambience of the Festspielhaus in Emden, thrilled the audience and quickly became the best-attended film of the festival. In their work, directors Chiara Kempers and Marianna Martens address the life of the coastal Pinkies dragon boat team from Friesland and Wilhelmshaven, whose members are or were affected themselves. A courageous and inspiring portrait of women who are battling or have battled breast cancer.

“Pink Power” is not only the title of the film, but also an expression of the power and confidence that the dragon boat team embodies. Far beyond the sporting aspect of paddling, the film highlights the positive energy that comes from training together and sharing experiences. The two protagonists, Jasmin Eilers from Jever and Kornelia “Konni” Jürgens, impressively show how sport gives them both motivation and joy in life. Many satisfied faces and touched hearts in the audience after the screening demonstrate the emotional impact of the film.

A watchful audience and a new date

The joy was so great that an additional performance of “Pink Power” was scheduled for Friday, June 27th at 7 p.m. in the Festspielhaus in Emden. The occasion is the Emden Harbor Mile, where the Coastal Pinkies team actively takes part in dragon boat races. Another highlight will be the film's nationwide theatrical release on October 2nd, which will be celebrated as part of the international breast cancer awareness month, Pinktober. The relevance of the topic and the strength of the protagonists make this film a must-see for anyone interested in the challenges and triumphs of the women affected. Further information about dates and performances is available on the website www.pinkpower-film.de.

The global movement “Pink Paddling”

The documentary also addresses the global “Pink Paddling” movement, which more and more women are joining. This movement not only has social aspects, but also proven benefits for the physical and mental health of breast cancer patients. Studies show that paddling has positive effects on lymph flow, which is particularly important for recovery. The Coastal Pinkies team's goal is to take part in the European Dragon Boat Championships in Italy. A sporting success that not only symbolizes winning a trophy, but also a personal triumph over illness.

With a film length of 70 minutes, “Pink Power” is a powerful example of committed and empowering filmmaking that celebrates the spirit and determination of women in the fight against breast cancer. Maybe you too should let yourself be infected by the positive energy? Further details and information about the film project can also be found at Emden Film Festival.
