The joy of the victory was great, especially since it happened on the third matchday of the current season.
Next challenge for the team
The drivers of success now have to carry the momentum into the next encounter, where they will be on the pitch in Verden on July 12th. The team is looking forward to the challenge of defending their lead in the league table.
Golf – a sport for all ages
The successes of the Wilhelmshaven golfers are particularly remarkable, as golf is often mistakenly viewed as a sport for older generations. Statistical analyzes show that older age groups are strongly represented in golf clubs in Germany, but the age group between 27 and 35 years is also returning and includes over 47,000 players. The overall popularity of golf in Germany has increased by around 200,000 members in the last 20 years. In 2024, a new record number of golf members was recorded in Germany, underlining the growing popularity of the sport.
In Austria, the number of golf club members has risen to over 125,000, while in Switzerland there are more than 105,000 active golfers. It is obvious that golf is becoming increasingly popular around the world - not just here in Germany, but also in countries like Austria and Switzerland. In addition, some of the most famous golf professionals, such as Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, have reached the top of the world golf rankings, while the legendary Tiger Woods continues to be considered the most recognizable face in golf.
Golf is not only extremely popular in Wilhelmshaven, but is also captivating more and more people in Germany and beyond. Who knows, maybe we'll see even more success from the north soon!
