New business ideas for Wilhelmshaven: Mestex Fashion” and Vier Pfötchen” open!
Something is happening in Wilhelmshaven: On October 23, 2025, the winners of the Tonndeich vacancy competition were chosen. Claudia Tjettmers and Iryna Yoina have conquered a place in the city with their new businesses. Tjettmers presents fashion in her clothing store “Mestex Fashion”, while Yoina warmly welcomes animal lovers in her dog salon “Vier Pfötchen”. Eike Rosentreter and Janina Freimann from the city were present at the award ceremony to ceremoniously hand over the awards. This not only makes the city happy, but also underlines the positive change in the Tonndeich district, which is being promoted thanks to the competition. According to wilhelmshaven.de, each winner receives support: a subsidy for net rent of up to 500 euros per month for a whole year and one-off help with shop equipment of up to 800 euros.
A competition with visions: The vacancy competition in Tonndeich aims to bring a breath of fresh air into the region. It is aimed at people who want to settle in the urban area. The flexible rental concept, which covers the period from July 1st to December 31st, 2025, is particularly exciting. The competition was launched to breathe new life into empty spaces, which is also in line with the “Next Level” project. This project aims to use vacancies as opportunities for economic and social innovation. It is an initiative that is of central importance in small and medium-sized towns and rural areas and helps to create social meeting places and increase the quality of life.
Support for new ideas
The two entrepreneurs are not only receiving financial support. On October 28, 2025, the 3rd Tonndeicher network evening will take place in the Küchenhaus Kunz, where Tjettmers and Yoina will be officially accepted into the network of Tonndeicher traders. Here you can exchange ideas with other entrepreneurs, make contacts and develop ideas. Anyone interested is warmly invited to register at biwaq@wilhelmshaven.de and become part of this dynamic network.
The award is part of the BIWAQ funding project “Wilhelm – Wilhelmshaven Mittendrin”, which aims to revitalize empty spaces and establish new businesses. The commitment of the city administration and regional institutions shows how important the revitalization of the districts is for the entire community. Information about the competition and other submitted projects can be found at wirtschaft-wilhelmshaven.de.
The strong commitment to this project makes it clear that it is not just about economic aspects, but also about social cohesion within the community in Wilhelmshaven. Vacancies can become a source of creative ideas that enrich life in the districts and increase the attractiveness of the city. The initiatives surrounding the competition show once again that cohesion and support for young entrepreneurs are very important in Wilhelmshaven.
