Construction site alert! Danger of traffic jams at the start of your holiday around Wolfsburg!

Summer is just around the corner and with it the big holiday trips. This means that things are particularly tight on the motorways around Wolfsburg and Helmstedt. In its current report, the ADAC warns of massive traffic jams, which are to be expected, especially at the start of the holidays. “There are numerous construction sites on the streets that overlap with the increased traffic volume,” explains the automobile club.

The A1 between Bremen and Hamburg is affected. A construction site in the Horster triangle ensures that the connecting lane towards A7 Hanover will be closed until the end of May next year. It is important to pay attention to detour signs, as the detours are not always immediately obvious.

Another bottleneck can be found on the A2, where the roadway is narrowed in both directions between Braunschweig and Magdeburg. This permanent construction site will remain in place until September 1, 2025. The same applies to the A7, which will also be reduced to two lanes between Derneburg-Salzgitter and the Hannover-Süd triangle: This measure will last until the end of December 2025.

  • A1 Bremen → Hamburg: Baustelle im Horster Dreieck bis 31.05.2026.
  • A2 Braunschweig → Magdeburg: Verengte Fahrbahn bis 01.09.2025.
  • A7 Kassel → Hannover: Ausbau der Fahrbahn bis 30.12.2025.
  • A28 Oldenburg → Bremen: Baustelle bis 30.06.2025.
  • A39 Wolfsburg → Braunschweig: Vorübergehende Begrenzung auf 3,25 m bis 29.12.2025.

The A7 between Hamburg and Hanover will also be affected by construction sites in the direction of Hanover. Here, travelers can expect narrow lanes from April 1st to September 1st, 2025. In addition, bridge work between Horster triangle and the A1 will also lead to delays that will last until the beginning of July 2025.

Preparation for travelers

If you don't want to get stuck in a traffic jam, you should be well prepared for the traffic situation. With its ADAC Maps, the ADAC offers a helpful application that shows traffic flow as well as construction sites and possible dangerous situations in real time. This allows travelers to plan their routes optimally and largely avoid traffic jams. The tool is available for Germany as well as many neighboring holiday countries and also helps with planning for later departure times.

Not to be forgotten is the bridge work on the A28 between Oldenburg and Leer, which will last until November 7, 2025. A change in traffic routing is to be expected here, which will also affect the duration of the journey.

The ADAC, as the largest automobile club in Europe, offers comprehensive traffic data analyzes and has set itself the goal of optimizing traffic information. “We use floating car data and historical traffic data to plan the best routes and analyze trends in traffic flow,” said a club spokesman. For further information and to always stay up to date, it is worth taking a look at the ADAC traffic pages.

With good planning and the right information, nothing stands in the way of a relaxed trip on holiday!
