Big music festival in Wolfsburg: Over 200 musicians at the open-air event!

A very special musical festival will be celebrated in Wolfsburg's city center on Friday, June 27, 2025: The open-air event "Music School & Friends" is organized by the Music School of the City of Wolfsburg and promises a true fireworks display of sounds under the impressive glass roof of Hugo-Bork-Platz from 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free, which makes the event a special experience for all music lovers. In close cooperation with Wolfsburg Wirtschaft und Marketing GmbH (WMG), this event will bring together over 200 musicians from the region.

The motto of the festival, “Music connects”, is not only a beautiful slogan, but can also be found in the selection of musical styles, which range from Irish folk to pop and rock to classical music. Various ensembles and choirs from the music school will perform throughout the day, including the jazz and pop choir and the big band. Particularly emblematic will be the participation of the folk ensemble Clover, which, together with the drum ensemble Paradies, combines Irish folklore with African djembes to create a unique sound. A multi-layered program

The musical journey begins at 12:30 p.m. with a warm welcome. Afterwards, the big bands phonstark and the Neue Schule will demonstrate their skills in jazz, pop and rock. To illustrate the diversity of the program, here is an overview of the performances:

• 17:10 – 17:40 Uhr: Jazz- und Popchor & Tremozioni (Italo-Pop)
• 18:00 – 18:30 Uhr: Chor des Tanzenden Theaters & Gèza Gàl (Pop)
• 19:15 – 20:30 Uhr: Big Band Wolfsburg & Studierende der Musikhochschulen Hannover und Berlin (Jazz, Funk, Soul)

The different music groups, including the big bands of the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium and the Neue Schule as well as the choir of the Dancing Theater, offer visitors not only musical diversity, but also the opportunity to discover local talent. The program design has already promoted new contacts and intensive exchange between the groups. The result is special sounds and new arrangements, many of which were created specifically for this event. Wolfsburg emphasizes that these collaborations make the event something very special.
