Call for help from Wolfsburg: Animal aid saves seriously ill cat!
The situation in animal shelters in Germany, especially in Wolfsburg, is currently anything but rosy. More and more animals, especially cats, are in urgent need of help, while facilities are under enormous strain. Tierhilfe Wolfsburg is currently faced with the challenge of taking in a seriously injured cat that suffers from several health problems. The biggest concerns include broken teeth, an umbilical hernia and a general loss of vital energy. The volunteers work intensively to give these animals, who have often lived on the streets for years, a second chance. Because as news38.de reports, the costs for the necessary medical care are high.
But the animal shelters don't just have to contend with financial challenges. According to the TERRA MATER website, many facilities are overcrowded due to unwanted pets and a lack of education on animal welfare. There are more than 32 million pets in Germany, including 13.4 million cats. A large number of these animals suffer from uncontrolled reproduction and disease, so that the overload of animal shelters poses a serious social challenge. In many places, around a quarter of the 400,000 animals cared for each year remain permanently in the homes.
The concerns of Tierhilfe Wolfsburg
The special cat that was taken in by Tierhilfe Wolfsburg shows how urgently help is needed. Volunteers released a video showing the cat in a care room, where it can experience a moment of peace for the first time in a long time. Medical treatment requires, among other things, dental cleaning, castration and the removal of fleas and parasites. Animal aid has dramatically described the cat's tragedy on Facebook and plans to raise donations to cover treatment costs. Supporters can also submit suggestions for the cat's name (tierhilfe-wolfsburg.de).

A call to action
The eyes of many animal lovers are focused on the pets in need in homes. Around 400,000 animals visit animal shelters every year, and many of them urgently need help and a new home. The animal protection organizations, including the TERRA MATER partner stations, are making intensive efforts to improve the living conditions for these animals. Abandoning pets is not only cruel, but also a criminal offense punishable under the Animal Welfare Act.
Calling for neutering and raising public awareness could go a long way toward reducing cat misery. Because uncontrolled reproduction, separations and financial bottlenecks play a major role in causing more and more animals to find themselves in need. Take the opportunity and consider whether you could take the next step and offer an animal roommate a new home (terra-mater.de).
