The HSV women are facing a challenging year-end spurt in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga. Coach Liése Brancao must now draw the right conclusions from this unfortunate situation.
Brancao, who recently completed her UEFA Pro License in Austria, places great importance on the development of her players. Striker Sophie Hillebrand in particular has established herself as a bearer of hope. Not only did she secure an important victory in the DFB Cup, but she also scored a goal in an international match for Austria after just 16 seconds - a record for the fastest goal scored by an Austrian. As NDR reports, the team certainly has potential, as they won a friendly against Cologne 2-0 during the summer preparation, which gives hope for a positive turnaround.
Respect for the opponent
The upcoming opponents are anything but easy. Brancao emphasizes the respect for 1. FC Köln, which has already collected more points this season than in the entire last season. Such a challenge can only be overcome if the entire team, including those who have not been able to prove themselves on the pitch recently, sticks together. The HSV players know what is at stake: only with a win against Cologne can they leave the relegation zone and go into the subsequent games with fresh courage.
