Will Smith inspires Wolfsburg: gigantic high-rise becomes golden!

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the lagoon stage of the Autostadt in Wolfsburg was the venue for an impressive concert that captivated numerous music fans. Hollywood star Will Smith performed in front of around 9,600 listeners and created an exuberant atmosphere with his “Based on a True Story” summer tour.

The tour is his first significant musical project in two decades and follows the release of his new album, which features 14 fresh tracks. Smith shines with classic hits like “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” “Miami” and “Summertime,” and the new releases show that he is still very popular even after so many years. Special features come from DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor and Jac Ross, making the comeback all the more exciting. In the next few days he will also appear in Hanover before leaving the stage.

Construction work and art projects

Parallel to Smith's musical highlight, there are also significant structural developments in Wolfsburg. The Neuland housing company is selling the high-rise at Saarstrasse 39 to real estate investor Teja Schönberger, who is implementing an extensive energy-related renovation catalog by modernizing the building

.

Over the next three to four weeks, the façade of the high-rise building will be clad with gold-colored aluminum elements, which will be a worthwhile upgrade to the cityscape. This could be an inspiring addition to the concert weekend.

In addition, creative projects are underway in the Vorsfeld center. 20 artificial sheep, 19 in blue and one in orange, were installed there as part of an initiative for tolerance and friendly coexistence. Such art activities could define the character of the city and strengthen the local community.

Further events and developments in Wolfsburg

The summer festival in the Autostadt continues to offer exciting highlights with other artists such as Tom Jones and the band “Picture This”. In addition, construction work on the Brawo Arcades on Porschestrasse is in full swing. The first houses have already been demolished, and the new arcades will include residential, office and restaurant space from 2028.

Despite the harsh weather, the city delights with both top-class concerts and new developments that make urban life more varied and exciting. Wolfsburg will not only be remembered until Will Smith's next concert, but will also develop into a cultural and urban hotspot.
