The summer holidays are just around the corner and the high season in St. Peter-Ording is beginning. The famous North Sea village continues to enjoy great popularity despite increased prices. Tourism director Katharina Schirmbeck emphasizes the importance of July and August, which are of central importance for the region. After all, 915,642 overnight stays had already been counted in St. Peter-Ording by June 22, 2023, even if this corresponds to a decrease of 4.8% compared to the previous year. It's still worth a visit because the salty air has positive effects on the respiratory tract and makes a stay on the beach particularly relaxing.
Despite increased spa taxes and parking fees, the place continues to attract many people. In addition, 154,000 day guests came during this period. Even though this corresponds to a decrease of 12.4% compared to the previous year, income from daily spa fees increased by 43.8% to 515,000 euros.
Prices and parking on the beach
Parking directly on the beach in St. Peter-Ording is a very special experience. With over 1,250 beach chairs and one of the most beautiful beaches in Germany, the place attracts many visitors. Beach parking is particularly convenient, where you can park directly on the sand. The parking fees are 8 euros per day for a car with a valid guest card, which is an attractive offer for many visitors. Nevertheless, the community also faces challenges in view of the high parking fees of up to 15 euros per day. Around 31,353 cars have already brought in 370,000 euros since March of this year.
Another bright spot are the annual parking stickers sold. During this year's peak season, 2,378 plaques were sold, resulting in revenue of 246,000 euros. The beach parking system is therefore a success story not only because of the accommodation capacity, but also because of the positive income.

A total of 17,688 beds are available in St. Peter-Ording for the main season. However, this is a decrease of 5.93% compared to the previous year, with the dominance of holiday apartments becoming clear: 11,648 of the available beds are holiday apartments, while hotels, guesthouses and clinics together offer almost 4,000 overnight accommodations. This combination of different types of accommodation ensures that there is something for every taste.
How tourist numbers continue to develop also depends heavily on the weather conditions. While the bathing season begins in June, when temperatures rise above 15°C, camping holiday options are particularly popular in the summer. Still, beach camping is not allowed, but there are plenty of RV beach parking options. In cooperation with the tourism center, which is responsible for rental inquiries and location information, the stay is made even more pleasant.
