In this devastating fire, which alerted the fire department at 10:57 p.m., three people were injured, some of them critically. What remains tragic, however, is the missing report of a 9-year-old girl who has since been suspected of being in the ruins of the fire, leaving her family very worried. Loud Fireworld The girl lived with her parents, a 42-year-old father and a 40-year-old mother, as well as a 14-year-old brother on the first floor and attic of the house.
With the help of determined neighbors, the parents and brother were able to get to safety before the fire department arrived. Fortunately, a 76-year-old resident on the ground floor was able to escape uninjured. When the fire brigade arrived at the scene, the flames were already burning out of the windows and roof of the building.
The fire department operation
Fire brigade operations in Germany follow a structured protocol that begins with an emergency call on 112. In this case, the emergency call was received at a fire department operations center, where a dispatcher collected the necessary information and alerted the emergency services TÜV Süd. But when the fire brigade arrived, fighting the fire indoors using heavy respiratory protection was no longer possible due to the massive fire spread and had to be stopped. Operations manager Florian Judzinsky adjusted the alarm keyword to FEU 2 and had volunteer fire departments from Elmshorn and Rellingen re-alerted.
In total, over 120 helpers from the fire department, rescue service, DRK, THW, police and a rescue helicopter from Rendsburg were involved in this major operation. At the signal of the turntable ladder crew from Elmshorn, who had just returned from an operation in Uetersen, the external attack was started in order to fight the flames with hand-held jet pipes. The fire had spread through the wooden ceilings and walls of the house, making it unsafe to enter the building.
The search for the missing person
After the firefighting was completed, the search for the missing 9-year-old was scheduled for the next morning, coordinated by the THW Elmshorn and the rescue group from Pinneberg.
