Drug trafficking in Elmshorn: 25-year-old caught in detention pending deportation!
A current arrest is causing a stir in Elmshorn. A 25-year-old Turkish citizen has been targeted by the criminal police on suspicion of dealing in hard drugs. The investigations against him have been ongoing since the beginning of 2025. On August 28th, the man was finally arrested in Steindammpark and is now in detention pending deportation in Glückstadt NDR reported.
There was already a legally binding deportation order from the Office for Migration in Hamburg against the detainee. The police spent a long time searching for his whereabouts, which were previously completely unknown. The officers didn't let up with his arrest - several searches in Elmshorn, which had been ordered by a judge at the Itzehoe district court, led to the seizure of considerable evidence, including a four-figure amount of cash. In this operation, however, the investigators did not just stop at arresting the main accused.
Collaboration and unpleasant surprises
Investigations are also underway against two other men, also Turkish citizens aged 25 and 35, who, according to the police, are also involved in drug trafficking. However, these suspects could not be found during the searches. The 25-year-old main suspect was brought before the Itzehoe district court on Friday, where the judge ordered him deported to Turkey. All those involved must now answer for trafficking in large quantities of narcotics.
The case raises several questions regarding foreign criminality and its influence on society. Loud Statista Foreign citizens are overrepresented in German law enforcement - 14.8 percent of non-German people are suspects, although this does not mean that this is dependent on nationality. These offenses are mainly committed by younger men, which indicates socio-demographic differences and the higher risk of poverty among foreigners.
Although we are dealing with an isolated case here, the discussion about foreigner delinquency in Germany is anything but new. The focus is often on crimes committed by people without German citizenship. Even though many foreigners live peacefully in Germany, the disproportionate numbers of certain crimes are often a central topic in the public debate.
