Successful weekend: SH Netz Cup 2025 inspires in Rendsburg!
The 25th SH Netz Cup, which was celebrated this year in Rendsburg from August 8th to 10th, 2025, attracted numerous sports enthusiasts and families to the Kiel Canal. The event, one of the most prestigious long-distance rowing races in Europe, was once again very popular. How NDR reported, the sporting highlight of the event was the rowing marathon, which ran over a distance of 12.7 kilometers from Breiholz to the Rendsburg district harbor.
This year the rowing marathon was a premiere for women, and no less than the German double sculls were able to win ahead of the Dutch and British teams in an impressive time of 42:28.33 minutes. In the men's event, the German eight brought back its victory from 2021 and won with a time of 36:40.89 minutes, also a strong performance.
A colorful program for the whole family
However, the festival did not just offer top sporting performances. To give visitors an all-round great experience, numerous attractions and music acts were provided. Max Giesinger provided the atmosphere on Friday, while Chris Norman rocked the stage on Saturday and Michy Reincke rocked the stage on Sunday. On Saturday evening there was also an impressive LED light show with around 100 drones that lit up the night sky, complemented by a large fireworks display on Sunday evening. CN highlights that entry was free on all three days, which certainly contributed to the high number of visitors.
All sorts of attractions were offered for the little visitors, such as a pirate climbing tower, Quattro High Jump and a bouncy castle. A turbulent weekend that shone not only with the sporting competitions, but also with an extensive family program.
Logistical challenges and outlook
The journey turned out to be satisfactory, with a well-organized shuttle service that ran between different stops every 15 minutes. Traveling by bike was particularly recommended due to the high number of visitors. Delays due to a replacement ferry service for the defective transporter bridge were planned on Friday and Saturday, while there was no ferry service on Sunday.
All in all, this event not only shows the strength of rowing in Germany, which loud rowing100.de has pleasing membership numbers, but also how important such large events are for the regional community. Next year the SH Netz Cup could attract many participants again and continue the tradition on a large scale - there is definitely something on the horizon!
