Energetic sounds: KUHN FU inspires on December 5th. in Flensburg!
When music blossoms on Lübeckerstrasse, it's time for a special event. On December 5, 2025, the Flensburg audience will enjoy a performance by the excellent band KUHN FU. The band, led by Christian Kühn, is known for their energetic and eclectic jazz-rock-psychedelic compositions. A real highlight for all music lovers in the region!
KUHN FU was founded in Berlin in 2012 and has had a remarkable career since then. With over 400 concerts in 23 countries, the band has not only left its mark on the European jazz scene, but has also thrilled numerous fans. Their music combines the influences of Zappa, cabaret, surf sounds and even metal riffs - a true feast for the ear and soul. The band is often presented as a quartet, but also sometimes in larger formations such as a septet, octet or nonet.
A versatile ensemble
The cast of KUHN FU is as impressive as their music. In addition to Christian Kühn (guitar), the core members include Ziv Taubenfeld (bass clarinet), Esat Ekincioglu (bass) and George Hadow (drums). John Dikeman, Sofia Salvo, Frank Gratkowski and Tobias Delius have been expanding the band since 2021. This diversity of talent helps ensure that every KUHN FU performance is unique.
The musical styles that KUHN FU combines are not only multifaceted, but also interspersed with cultural elements. With references to Shakespeare, Brecht and Monty Python, they set an example for the wonderful togetherness in music, which the Süddeutsche Zeitung describes so aptly: “The multicultural jazz ensemble brings enormous energy to the stage.” This idea also resonates in the quote from Improspot.pl: “If Igor Stravinsky were to compose jazz today, it could sound like the songs of KUHN FU.”
A deepened jazz tradition
The meeting between KUHN FU and the history of jazz in Germany is special. Jazz has a checkered history in Germany, dating back to the 1920s, when the first jazz records found their way to the nation's ears. Artists like Josephine Baker shaped Berlin's vibrant music culture back then, which is still alive today. Despite many ups and downs, including the practical persecution of jazz musicians of yesteryear, jazz reawakened and experienced a revival in Germany after World War II, particularly in the American-occupied zones.
German jazz musicians often face challenges that prevent top international artists from performing live in this country. However, the passion for jazz remains undiminished, and events like KUHN FU's upcoming concert promote this culture and provide a platform for creative expression.
On December 5th, nothing less than an experience can be expected that will captivate both old jazz hands and young explorers. An appointment not to be missed!
