Mega traffic jam on the A7: asphalt work until Wednesday evening!

Drivers on the A7 near Quickborn are currently having to show strong nerves. Due to asphalt work, the northbound section is only accessible in one lane until Wednesday evening. The restrictions apply between the Quickborn and Henstedt-Ulzburg junctions in the Segeberg district.

How NDR Reportedly, construction work was set up on Monday morning. Shortly afterwards, a several kilometer long traffic jam formed, which significantly affected traffic. Drivers can currently expect delays of around an hour. These restrictions are in response to the unfinished asphalt work, which had to be postponed due to rain at the end of October.

Reasons for the construction work

The current measure is intended to renew the open-pored asphalt, which not only makes the road surface more pleasant, but also reduces traffic noise. This special asphalt must be renewed every eight years to meet the requirements of modern road construction.

In the past, the motorway section between Hamburg-Schnelsen and the Bordesholm triangle underwent extensive expansion between 2014 and 2019. Since then, traffic there has been in a significantly improved condition. Nevertheless, the immediate restrictions are difficult to digest for those affected.

Further construction sites and traffic forecast

Like an analysis of SHZ shows, the construction work on the A7 is not the only one that is straining the nerves of drivers in the region. In the entire German motorway network you have to be prepared for over 1,200 construction sites, which puts a strain on the overall traffic situation. The upcoming holidays could also lead to an increase in traffic.

Anyone planning to travel at the weekend is in luck - major traffic disruptions are only expected in exceptional cases during this time, according to forecasts ADAC.

Nevertheless, the people in the region have to prepare for sweat and patience until the asphalting work in Quickborn is completed. The construction work is expected to last until Wednesday at 10 p.m. After the completion, it will hopefully be a little more relaxed for drivers on the motorway.
