Investigations and challenges
Some reports turned out to be misinterpretations: overflights by airplanes and helicopters could be ruled out. Nevertheless, numerous large drones remain without a clear classification. The public prosecutor's office in Flensburg has started the investigation. The missing signature of many drones remains a significant problem. This makes tracking and tracking by the police extremely difficult. The Bundeswehr is particularly well equipped here and has the necessary means for location.
One aspect that is currently raising many questions is the possible role of Russian naval ships near Fehmarn. Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) emphasized that Schleswig-Holstein, as a coastal state, has a special responsibility - especially when it comes to critical infrastructure. In order to better deal with the challenges, the interior ministers of the five German coastal states have founded the “Northern German Drone Defense Competence Cluster”. The aim of this collaboration is to improve networking between the police authorities and the Bundeswehr.
