Füchse Berlin shine in the cup: their next opponent is THW Kiel!
What an exciting day for handball fans in Berlin! The Füchse Berlin secured their ticket to the cup quarter-finals with a convincing 38:22 win against ThSV Eisenach. The team was dominant from the start and left no doubt who was in charge in this game. With a clear 22:12 lead at halftime, the Füchse were already on course for victory. “It was a good game for us,” said coach Velimir Petkovic after the final whistle, who had set up his team well. Ran reports that with this victory the Foxes are the last team to move into the round of the top eight.
But that's not enough! The next opponent in the quarter-finals, which will take place on December 17th and 18th, will be none other than THW Kiel - the defending champions and record champions. It will be interesting to see whether the Foxes can hold their own against Kiel. In other quarter-final pairings, SC Magdeburg will play against SG Flensburg-Handewitt, Bergische HC against MT Melsungen and SC DHfK Leipzig against TBV Lemgo Lippe.
Star players in the spotlight
In the game against Eisenach, the two Füchse players Mathias Gidsel and Tobias Grondahl particularly stood out. Each of them scored six goals and contributed significantly to the victory. Eisenach's best goalscorer, Oskar Joelsson, was also able to set some accents with five goals, but it was not enough to counter the Berliners' superiority.
The euphoria in the team and among the fans is palpable. Who knows, maybe the Foxes will make a big splash this cup season? For more information, visit Office.
