Holstein Kiel signs handball legend son Frederik Roslyng!

Holstein Kiel has landed an exciting new signing: the Danish central defender Frederik Roslyng is moving from AC Horsens to the North Germans and signed a contract until the summer of 2029. There is no question that the club sees great development potential in Roslyng. Sports director Olaf Rebbe describes the 191 cm tall player as particularly strong in duels and with a strong understanding of the game. The transfer fee is estimated at around 1.2 million euros, but no further details have been officially announced.

Frederik, born on December 25, 2005 in Flensburg and son of the Danish handball legend Lars Christiansen, already has some experience from his time at the club AC Horsens with. He played 32 games there last season and scored one goal. He began his football career in Juelsminde, leaving his family handball background behind to devote himself fully to football.

A special legacy

As the son of a handball icon, Frederik Roslyng has not only a sporting connection to handball, but also a family connection. His father Lars Christiansen celebrated great success, played for SG Flensburg-Handewitt from 1996 to 2010 and became European champion twice. The passion for sport seems to run in the family, but Frederik's heart beats for football, and he has impressively proven this in his previous appearances.

Handball has a long tradition in Denmark and is considered the most popular sport after football. So it is not surprising that the country celebrates several world championship titles. Denmark won the last four World Cups (2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025) and triumphed at the Olympic Games in 2016 and 2024. This clearly shows how popular the sport is in Denmark, which further underlines Frederik's career.

Future prospects in Kiel

Frederik Roslyng's move to Kiel represents a significant step in his career. The Bundesliga world will certainly keep an eye on him, especially as a talented central defender who can play both in the half position and centrally. Holstein Kiel seems to have a good knack for young talent, and in Roslyng they have a player who still has a lot of potential to develop.

At a time when developing young talent is becoming increasingly important, Danish trainers rely on creative and modern training methods to promote playful learning and personal development. Therefore, it is not only Roslyng's sporting background that inspires, but also the culture and team spirit that is lived in Danish sports clubs. The Kiel audience could soon benefit from his talent - we can look forward to what may come next.
