Kiel Week 2025: When hip-hop conquers the Philharmonic Orchestra!”

There is huge anticipation in Kiel, because... Kiel Week 2025 is just around the corner! This renowned sailing event, which has been celebrated on the fjord since the end of the 19th century, attracts a large number of sports enthusiasts, boat enthusiasts and music lovers to the city every year. From June 21st to 29th, Kiel will once again become a vibrant center for art and culture.

Visitors can expect this as a cultural highlight Classic open air on the town hall square. This event promises an exciting mix of classical music and other genres. Under the motto “Hip-Hop meets Classic”, the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the direction of Daniel Carlberg, First Kapellmeister, together with the popular hip-hop group 5 Sternen Deluxe. After a creative break, the group made a comeback with their album “Flash” in 2017 and is known for their often ironic style.

An unforgettable musical fireworks display

The cool collaboration between classic sounds and contemporary rap promises an extraordinary music evening on June 24th, where big hits from the 5 Star Deluxe will be presented in a new look. The audience can look forward to an unforgettable experience that pushes the boundaries of genre and tradition.

But it's not just the classic open air that impresses at Kieler Woche. The varied program also offers numerous other events that have something for everyone. On Tuesday, June 24th, for example, the Kiel rock band Afterimage will perform on the town hall stage at 8:30 p.m. and the singer Aura Dione at 10:00 p.m. This day will therefore be all about music.

A celebration for the entire family

Kiel Week also offers a wealth of activities. At various locations in Kiel, visitors can take a look at fascinating ships from 12 different nations at “Open Ship” events. A highlight are the magnificent sailing competitions, in which over 22 boat classes fight for victory. And there are many exciting programs for the little ones in the court theater in Hiroshima Park.

The program also promises visual highlights: The “Night Glow” during the Balloon Sail and the big final fireworks display, which will be lit on June 29th at 11:00 p.m., are also on the agenda. A variety of art and cultural events can be expected, making Kiel Week a festival for young and old.
