The highlight of the day are the dance performances by Kim Tassia Kreipe and Olivia Shoestone, which will captivate the audience between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Those who prefer something more creative have the opportunity to take part in artistic exploration with Kerstin Mertens, which takes place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All programs on opening day are free – a unique opportunity to rediscover the Behnhaus!

Renovation with foresight

The renovation not only restored historical elements, but also created modern standards of accessibility and safety. The Lübeck architectural firm Mai Ellinghaus in particular has done a great job here. With a newly installed elevator, the Behnhaus is now easily accessible for people with limited mobility. This achieves an important goal of making art and culture openly accessible to all people - something that is becoming increasingly important these days.

How Museum guide explained, we must not underestimate the importance of inclusive and barrier-free offerings. Access to art and culture is a fundamental right that all people are entitled to, regardless of their life situation. With the measures implemented, the Behnhaus not only meets structural specifications, but also shows an exemplary commitment to a diverse society.

The reopening of the Behnhaus is not only an important step for Lübeck, but also an outstanding example of the integration of art, architecture and modern museum technology. A real dignitary of the art scene, which will in future make it possible to experience the impressive works of artists such as Caspar David Friedrich, Edvard Munch and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner up close!
