On August 15, 2025, an exciting information event by the Free Workers' Union (FAU) will take place at the Solicafé in Lübeck. A meeting entitled “Basic union introduces itself” will start at 7:30 p.m., giving everyone interested the opportunity to find out more about anarcho-syndicalism and the FAU’s approaches. But what exactly is meant by anarcho-syndicalism? Historically, this approach developed as a reaction to the reformism of socialist parties and unions at the end of the 19th century. He combines socialist ideals with anti-state self-government. At FAU, self-organization in autonomous groups is very important, and members rely on direct actions such as occupations, boycotts and strikes - but parliamentary measures are rejected. The role of FAU

The Free Workers' Union (FAU) was founded in 1977 and emerged from the conviction that existing unions often act undemocratically and to maintain power. At FAU, the focus is on the members: important decisions are made through ballots, and there are no paid officials or official elites. FAU's current work extends across various areas, including company groups, anti-fascist, anti-racist and anti-sexist activities as well as district work and cultural topics.

Another prominent goal of FAU is to create a society-wide alternative to private and state capitalism. It is the members who keep the organization alive through their commitment and active participation. Particularly in times of crisis, interest in anarcho-syndicalist approaches grows.
