Big district festival in Marli: fun for the whole family on July 11th!
On Friday, July 11, 2025, the Marli district festival will take place on the grounds of St. Philippus Church in Lübeck. From 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., a colorful program awaits young and old that not only offers fun, but also a sense of community. The Lübeck Child Protection Association, together with many initiatives, associations and private individuals from Marli, will set up numerous stands and pavilions that invite you to linger. There will be an exciting supporting program that includes, among other things, face painting from 2 p.m. and an exciting magic show by Merlin at 5 p.m., which will take place at the Child Protection Association stand. People of all ages are invited to find out more and exchange information.
The district festival has a long tradition. The first festival took place in June 2011 on the Grandplatz of the Lübeck Gymnastics and Sports Club and was very well received the first time. Over the years, the event has become an integral part of the Marli district. Every year, organizations, associations and institutions get involved in introducing themselves to the public and making their offerings transparent. Since then, the festival has always taken place on the grounds of the St. Philippus parish, which has benefited from the festival's proceeds in the past.
A celebration for the community
The district festival sees itself not only as a celebration, but also as a platform for exchange and strengthening the community. It will be a place where people from different cultures and lifestyles can connect with each other. The proceeds from the festival go annually to an institution in the region that is committed to the district. For example, the autonomous women's shelter and Tontalente e.V. have been supported in recent years.
The supporting program will also include artistic performances, including a hat fashion show and a talent show with students from the Albert Schweitzer School, who will present dance, singing and instrumental music. In addition, the band “unMöglich” from Marli GmbH will provide musical entertainment and create a good atmosphere.
Social city projects as a basis
The Marli district festival is part of a larger concept known in Germany as the “Social City”. The aim of such projects is to promote integration, culture and education in disadvantaged districts. These initiatives help to strengthen the sense of community and improve the quality of life locally. Top examples describes how social city projects create educational programs, youth centers and health services in order to sustainably improve coexistence.
The organizers of the district festival, the district association “Wir auf Marli e.V.” in collaboration with the St. Philippus community, have a good knack for making this festival a highlight of the year that not only offers fun, but also focuses on important topics such as integration and togetherness.
So if you're looking for a happy get-together, you should mark July 11, 2025 in your calendar and come to the district festival in Lübeck with the whole family! There are not only many attractions here, but also the opportunity to contribute to the positive development of the district.
