Things will soon be musical and literary in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck! There will be a special on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 5:00 p.m Literary concert takes place in the music library of the city library, which is located at Hundestrasse 5 – 17. First of all: Admission is free and registration is not required. The program promises exciting travel reports and anecdotes about the southern regions of Europe, accompanied by music from the band “Barfuß”. The musicians, including Lina Maria Goldbach on the violin, Anne-Katrin Voutta on the flute, Sinisa Becanovic on the guitar and Christian von Seebeck on the double bass, will delight the audience with folk music.
The aim of this event is to introduce the culture and cuisine of the southern countries. Because nothing is more beautiful than immersing yourself in distant countries and their people with the sound of music. The music library of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck has long been a place of encounter and exchange, and this event fits perfectly into its concept.
Culture in the Lübeck City Library
The Lübeck City Library is one of the most traditional libraries in Germany and offers its visitors a variety of media and events. It houses not only the central library, but also four district libraries, a children's and youth library and a historical collection. The library is particularly proud of its music department, which has existed since 1876 and includes around 60,000 items. From ancient music to current pop songs, music lovers will find everything their hearts desire here.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturdays even until 2:00 p.m. And for everyone who didn't know: The city library has easy access at the Katharineum stop with bus lines 4, 10, 11 and 21.
Training and further education
As nice as the events in the library are, sometimes it is necessary for the staff to undergo further training. The city library is therefore closed on a few days in the summer. It will be closed on Tuesday, July 8th and Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, as well as on July 21st and 22nd, 2025. Internal training takes place on these occasions.
The city library says: “Culture thrives on participation!” And you can see this not only in events like the literary concert, but also in the workshops and other formats that are offered regularly. Also the collaboration with various artists, including within the framework of literary concerts, creates a varied offering for readers and visitors.
