On June 13, 2025, there are numerous exciting sporting events on the program in Lübeck and the surrounding area that will provide lots of action and thrills. Football fans in particular can look forward to various exciting matches. On Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Phönix Lübeck II will fight against TSV Kropp for promotion to the Oberliga. At the same time, the Osterrönfelder TSV against SC Rönnau 74 is about relegation from the regional league. Sunday will bring further decisions, including the games SV Azadi Lübeck against Wiker SV and VfR Horst against TSV Hattstedt - both at 2:00 p.m.
The weekend will also be marked by a series of handball events. The 40th Stodo Cup will delight fans on Friday from 4:00 p.m. with a youth tournament, followed by competitions for men, women and those over 40 on the following days. The European League ELF and the GFL are not letting up on the handball field either: Rhein Fire will face the Hamburg Sea Devils on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., while the Lübeck Cougars will compete against the Hamburg Pioneers at 4:00 p.m.
Triathlon and other sports highlights
Another highlight of the week is the Rosenstadt Triathlon in Eutin, which starts on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. with the German Police Championship. From 11:05 a.m. the sprint triathletes can look forward to their first appearance, followed by a variety of other competitions, while the 7 Towers Triathlon is in full swing in Lübeck.
In beach volleyball, the Flens Beach Tour will take place at the weekend in Großenbrode. From 9:30 a.m. the players will fight for the best places. This shows once again that sport is very popular in the region.
Promotion of sporting events in Schleswig-Holstein
In order to enable and further expand such events, the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior has published new guidelines for promoting major sporting events. The funding amounts have been increased considerably - up to 250,000 euros can be applied for for major events. Smaller events also benefit from grants of up to 50,000 euros. This not only makes holding events easier, but also makes them more sustainable and climate-neutral, which is of great interest to many sports clubs. The State of Schleswig-Holstein is pursuing the goal of broader sports development and thus wants to maintain the regional sports landscape.
Another topic concerns the updating of the start pass conditions in triathlon. The athletes in Lübeck were informed about a new semi-digital application process that reduces paperwork and simplifies start number management. The revised Startpass conditions ensure that everything works smoothly, and the link provided to an explanatory video makes the application process even easier.
As you can see, there will be a lot on offer in Lübeck and the surrounding area next weekend. Be it football, handball, triathlon or other sports – the region beats all records when it comes to sporting activity. Fans and athletes are invited to attend the games and show their support to the local sports community!
