Excitement in Amrum: Crime author Krischan Koch presents a new case!

The North German crime fiction lover can be happy! On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 7:30 p.m., the Hamburg author Krischan Koch will present his latest thriller “The Silence of the Gray Seals” in the Norderstedt-Mitte city library.

The book is already the 13th case for the popular inspector Thies Detlefsen and offers an exciting connection to Amrum, where inspector Nicole Stappenbek is organizing a reunion with her former youth and allergy group. A warm welcome initially seems in prospect, but anticipation quickly turns to concern when unexpected events shake up the group during the meeting. One of the participants, “the beautiful Alex”, is found dead in a former youth home and another group member, Oliver, disappears without a trace. Stappenbek, who was the last person to see Alex alive, doesn't hesitate and calls her colleague Thies Detlefsen to the picturesque North Sea island for support.

A crime thriller full of tension and humor

“The Silence of the Gray Seals” not only combines exciting crime elements, but also funny dialogues and bizarre events that are typical of Koch’s style. The action unfolds against the backdrop of the past, where all traces point back to the fall of 1998, the time of the group's last meeting. With an excellent sense of the right tension, the author leads his readers to experience with Detlefsen and Stappenbek how the secrets of the past come to light.

What is particularly noteworthy is that, in addition to his writing career, the crime writer also works as a cabaret artist and coolly explains to his readers how he thinks about films. Koch also lives in both Hamburg and Amrum, which certainly gives him a good knack for the setting of his stories. The crime thriller was published in the spring and will officially hit the stage of the city library on October 21st.

Ticket information

Tickets for the reading are already available in advance. Visitors shouldn't take too long because the places are in great demand. The entry price is 15 euros, reduced tickets cost 10 euros. In summary, the region is looking forward to an exciting evening with Krischan Koch and his latest work. Anyone who is curious about the fate of the group members and the secrets that the North Sea island holds should not miss this event.
