Stemwede is looking for the stars of tomorrow: Band Contest for the anniversary festival!
In Stemwede, preparations for the 50th Stemweder Open Air Festival are in full swing. The event, which is popular in the region, will take place in August 2026 and promises to establish itself as a real highlight among the free and outdoor festivals in Northern Germany. Hello Lübbecke reports that the JFK Stemwede association is organizing a band contest for young bands, which will take place in March 2026. The hoped-for goal here: to give young talents a chance to present themselves in front of a larger audience.
The band contest will take place on March 7, 2026 at the Life House in Stemwede-Wehdem. Four talented bands will be selected for this special evening. The winning band has the opportunity to perform at the Stemweder Open Air Festival on August 14th or 15th, 2026. Anyone who would like to apply for the competition has until January 4, 2026. The application is simply sent by email to bandcontest@life-house.de and should contain the band name, place of origin, music genre as well as contact details and links to the music. The only condition: The participating bands must come from the region and be young bands.
Highlights of the band contest
The main prize for the winner of the contest is a performance at the 49th Stemweder Open Air Festival, which will take place on August 15th and 16th, 2025. If you are interested in live music and new artists, you should definitely mark the date in your calendar.
The festival summer in northern Germany
The summer of 2026 will be rich in festivals for music lovers in northern Germany. In addition to the Stemweder Open Air Festival, there are a number of other events that will shape the region. For example, the well-known Deichbrand Festival will take place in Cuxhaven from July 16th to 19th, 2026 and will feature 120 different artists, including big names like Sido and Rise Against. And just a few weeks later, on August 14th and 15th, 2026, the MS Dockville in Hamburg will celebrate music and art again.
In addition, the Hurricane Festival, the Kieler Woche and the Breminale are on the program in June 2026, which shows that northern Germany is becoming a true hotspot for music fans. So if you like partying outside and love first-class live concerts, you'll have your hands full in summer.
